I have been in contact with the "friends of the orphanage" and what they sent me back to my questions has been copied and pasted, and is factually incorrect, in fact she said "she thinks, which in fact makes their entire record keeping system a bit of a joke. And much less accurate even against the convict records which were pretty well kept, in terms of what they were wearing when they arrived, with whom they arrived, their family name (in Aboriginal, or illegal "caucasian father" For example I asked her her about the two small furnaces at the back of a small outbuilding which I presume was where the sisters/warden resided as it was very close to to the back of the RHS of the orphanage, what were they used for cremation? Or just for wood to heat heat the tiny cottage, which BTW has no windows facing the the orphanage, only windows facing outwards towards the (now road, but back then I suppose garden or something? In which case did a greater number than 400 die at the school than are listed outside the sunday school chapel and rememberance garden? No they weren't. Everyone was buried in a coffin in the rememberance garden. What rememberance garden? The one outside the small chapel The thing that frusutrates me is that Richard put in a link of the actual historical documents that he referred to and that link now goes somewhere else. I have a lot of questions for the "friends" of the orphanage... Because I have not seen furnaces like that, albeit in larger format since I was on Franco German Border, which makes me feel sick and which were used for two purposes, one we know of and two, to heat the officers quarters... So where do the clothes from the "non adopted daughter of Lady Franklin whether she was brought there by Lady Franklin, John Franklin, the Governess or a Valet, wearing fine clothes, probably her red dress and a fine green shell necklace, the clothes are not noted. Is that what the furnaces were for? Burning all evidence of their previous life and dressing them in a sack cloth uniform one supposes? So no I've not finished because now I'm on a detective trail... Because the entries in log book are so basic and incorrect, to the point of well she could have been 6 or 8 yeasr old we are not sure... This brings everything about the whole of the rest of her life into question. I know that I will probably never find the answers because there are none but she leaves the school for the last time and less than 12 months later she's dead from liqour, never having had any previously as far as I know, face down in a puddle? Doesn't fit... well not with me. ...more "
