I love historical ficition and I had no idea them made spicy versions! This is also based in the civil war era, which is one of my favorite times to read about! The story is a little slow and there is really only two spicy scenes. It takes awhile to get going, but once it's there, it's there!

~Summary: The story starts with Marlie as a girl being taken away from her mother. She is going with her Aunt Sarah. Her mother a freed slave in North Carolina send her to live with Lynchs to give Marlie a better life. But not before teaching her about herbalism and her Africian backrounds. Marlie meets her Uncle, which you later find out his her father. It's kinda minor plot point. He loved Marlie's mother but was not allowed to be with her since she was a black woman. Marlie grows up and helps people with the tonics she makes. She becomes a medicine woman. She goes to the prisoniers camp to help the men there. Most of they are Union soldiers captured or men running from being in the war. There is where we meet Ewan. He is a spy and interragator for the Union. He is a Scottish American. He is instantly smittin with Marlie but he won't admit it. He is more asexual and doesn't really believe in love. But he finds himself dreaming of Marlie!! At the camp, a General Cadhill comes through to see all the men. He is a evil Confederate general, who Ewan had tortured and interrogated at some point. There is a prison break and Ewan escapes but hurts his ankle. He finds a man that helps him to safety, the Lynch residence. There Marlie hides him in her room in the attic. Where she sleeps and makes cures for people. He is so intrigued by her and how smart she really is. This makes him fall more in love. They bond over their love of science and literature. They both start to develope feelings for each other but are both scared to act on them. At some point Marlie's Uncle Dad moves in with his wife Melody and she takes over the estate. She is an annoying woman who belittles Marlie for being black. And tries to treat her as a servant. Uncle Dad runs off to the North? Or goes somewhere and leaves Melody to run the estate, she invites the Confederate army to stay there and set up camp. Meaning, General Cahill is on the grounds. He makes some very inappropriate comments about the things he would do to Marlie, makinf her (obivously) very uncomfortable and scared. Ewan is pissed! That's his girl! HE wants to kill that man but can't and make it out alive with Marlie. Marlie and Ewan decide to flee when his ankle is healed and they go on the run. They eventually run into the home gaurd and get aid from them. This is when they finally touch! It is in like the last 4th of the book. It is good, don't get me wrong, but damn did I have to wait for it! This is when things get a little juicy. Cahill and his army find the camp and Cahill tries to take Marlie. Ewan stops him, but it was a team effort to capture him. They do not kill him, but man did I want Ewan to! The story ends with Ewan and Marlie moving up North to help with wound soldiers. Meldoy gets run off of the Lynch estate and everyone gets a happy ending.
~Favorite Part: I hate to sound like a slut, but the spicy. It was building for so long when it finally happened I was ready!!! But I also enjoyed the setting both time in history and the surronding area.
~Least Favorite Part: How much time they spent in that damn attic with no touching!! It was awhile.
~Favorite Character: Ewan! I loved that austic man!
~Least Favorite Character: MELODY!!!!! Someone needs to fight that woman! Take her down! Sarah should have done it. And Marlies Uncle Dad. He was annoying. Stop staring at everyone and tell your wife to shut the hell up.
~Overall Thoughts: I liked it! I had fun and I'm excited to read more spicy historical fiction. I did dock this one a star just because it dragged on for far too long. LET THE PEOPLE TOUCH!! And maybe get to the point.
