"the good: this book is gearing up to be a hilarious critique of academia. the fact that the magic in this world works on the user's "single-minded capacity for limitless self-delusion" as well as the fact that two overworked grad students are willing to go to literal hell to get a good job is a nice twist on the classic conventions of the genre.
