It’s my first murakami book and u have to say I enjoyed the story as I enjoy the romance of normal life and think more people should take distance from this milestone-mentality that has such a strong grip on our generation.
Yet it was a little too slow for my personal liking and at times to intricate. I enjoyed it but it didn’t leave me with new impressions other than a new way to see mental and emotional struggles.
And I wish that the females were more than just the male projection. Especially the cafe owner who was described like an alien. For doing the same thing that the man did and as a woman that doesn’t serve the sexual wants of the protagonist. I know it was meant as appreciation of some sorts but saying “I’ll wait for you” as a reply to her saying she can’t have sex… that quite didn’t sit right with me. Leaves me disappointed that penetration is one of the core pillars of romantic relationships…...more
