What she finds is a chilling legend of disappearances, of brilliant minds vanishing, their existence wiped clean — and a heavy silence covering it all.

At the heart of all this darkness stands Cazimir.
Caz is a mystery, an enigma, a man with a soul crafted by shadows and light. From his artistic spirit to the quiet vulnerability he reveals in rare moments, he felt like one of the most layered and real characters I’ve read in a long time. His chemistry with Salem is electric, but it’s the naturalness of their bond that truly shines — nothing about their connection feels forced. It grows with tension, understanding, and a quiet undercurrent of hope neither of them dares to acknowledge too soon.

What made this book so personal for me was Salem herself. I didn’t just read about her loneliness — I felt it. I lived it. Her hunger for connection, her silent ache to be seen and loved, mirrored emotions I know too well.
There’s a line that stayed with me:
