I’m not sure if that makes any sense but in my head it does. I really enjoyed the beginning and I really enjoyed the ending. It is definitely a book I would read again and was very enjoyable. I relate to the FMC and her interests (not the diving part but). Definitely a good overall book. 3.5 stars

A revised review a year + later -
Hmmm, as someone who loves and has read just about every Ali Hazelwood book this was the one book that fell slightly short for me. It’s not to say it’s bad I still enjoyed this book a lot because it’s Ali Hazelwood and I love her writing. That being said this book is supposed to be Ali’s like most sort of darker advanced book. The main character Scarlett’s best friend is dating this Swedish diver (they are all on the swim team together) however pen and Lukas do not match each other. So she tells Scarlett and him that they should try an arrangement together. So they (Scarlett and Lukas) make this really long list of things and compare their lists realize it matches enter this arangement (not a relationship an arrangement) however most of that list doesn’t actually get touched upon. Because then the book pivots to the ex and Scarlett’s bff Pen who told them to do this taking it back and then being upset and angry. I’m trying not to spoil to much so I’m stopping with that part but yeah I just wish if it was going to be her most darker exploration that they actually did more from their lists. One cool thing about this book is I learned SO MUCH about professional diving. Much much of this book is spent talking about the swim meets and everything that happen. And I learned so much about different jumps and what a shammy is to mark where to jump with your shoes and etc iits definitely a good read it just wasn’t fully as it was marketed and I think it ultimately fell slightly short for me personally in compared to her other books.

The re re re read via audiobook the audiobook finally sold me. 5 star read I was wrong before guys. ...more "
