In seventh or eighth grade I had an assignment to write about what happened to Shane after the story. I’d unknowingly written something about a cowboy that possessed a sword that let him cut through the fabric between dimensions a la Darksword Trilogy or The Subtle Knife. I’d only read King’s IT and Eyes of the Dragon, but I wonder if I’d seen a description of The Gunslinger that informed my imagination subconsciously.
