Sally was more Olivia de Havilland than Bette Davis
Just to add a little context to this statement, 1939 might have been the greatest year in motion picture history and these actresses contributed mightily. Bette Davis was nominated for an Academy Award (Best Actress) for Dark Victory; Olivia de Havilland was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in arguably the best movie ever made, Gone With the Wind. GWTW won eight Oscars, including Best Picture. De Havilland lost to Hattie McDaniel, also in GWTW. Vivien Leigh won Best Actress for her role as Scarlett O'Hara in the same picture.
