"I just started this book today and I’m hooked! I appreciated the mention of mandrakes, hippogriffs and dragons. So far it seems to me that Carmella is some kind of immortal being ( a vampire obv ) but I don’t know why she appears in peoples dreams. I’m very curious about the carriage accident and the way her “mother” behaved, the mysterious woman in the window, and the “ugly” servants." — Jul 13, 2026 01:05PM

"I absolutely love the Wes Anderson movie and I loved Roald Dahl books growing up so I’m surprised I’ve never read this book. I bought a box set of Roald Dahl books and I’ve been reading them to my son. I absolutely love this one!" — Jul 06, 2026 07:49AM
