I agree with this because the story teaches important lessons about patience and hard work. In the text it states “Work gives a man dignity, stealing takes it away.” This is showing that Tree-ear works very hard for Min even when he does not get paid. It shows that he understands that learning and growing are more important than rewards. I agree with this because it shows how much he cares about his future and how determined he is to become a potter. Next, I agree with the crisis of this novel. Throughout the novel Treeear faces many challenges, especially when he travels to Songdo to deliver Min’s pottery. in the text it states “Tree ear stared down at the pieces. The box lay shattered on the rocks, and the celadon pots were no more than shards.”Even after the pots break on the journey, he does not give up. Instead, he brings the single surviving shard to prove Min’s talent. This part of the story makes the reader more interested because you want to see if all his hard work will pay off.Additionally, I agree with the static in the novel. Linda Sue Park describes the village of Ch’ulp’o and the process of making celadon pottery in great detail. In the text it states“The glaze was the color of jade clear and deep and pale at the same time.” You can almost picture the green glaze and the delicate designs on the pottery. It makes you feel like you are right there in Korea watching the artists at work.Furthermore, I want to talk about them in the story. When a tree ear is robbed on his journey and the pottery is shattered it feels like everything he worked for is lost. This is a key moment because it shows his true character. Instead of quitting he continues his journey with the single shard. This makes you respect him even more.Finally, at the end of the novel, Tree ear’s loyalty and honesty are rewarded. He grows not only as a potter but also as a person. I really agree with this message because it shows that even someone who starts with nothing can achieve great things through courage and determination. ...more "
