The author of this book is William Golding, who was a British novelist who even fought in WW2. He wrote this book to show that deep down inside, humans are savages with no morals when they don't have leaders like a governing society. This book is written for people who are interested in how humans act when they don't have any leaders and are free to do whatever they want, and the consequences of their actions.
The theme the author is trying to convey is that humans can become savage and irrational when there are no leaders, civilization, or consequences for their actions. This is demonstrated throughout the book by showing how all the kids were initially just trying to survive. You see this change throughout the book as they go savage.
Another element the author uses a lot is the idea of symbolism. This is shown throughout the book multiple times with stuff as basic as a pair of glasses, fire, a conch, and even one of the characters' names. After you finish the book and really look into it. You can see that these basic items actually symbolize much deeper meanings.
The author conveys these ideas super well. It is clear throughout the book what he is trying to get at. If you don't get it during the book, then when you dive deeper into it then you will see the symbolism and the obvious theme of the book.
So, in conclusion, I would recommend this book to anyone who is into a book about exploring human nature and what humans are like deep down when they have no consequences for their actions. This book will also be a good read for people who think the government is not important and wish there were no leaders and more freedom. I think that because this book demonstrates well, maybe a little bit extreme on what it would be like if a society were isolated with no control or morals. ...more "
