"Faulkner has done an excellent job with his descriptions which, while lengthy, lay out in perfect detail his characters and settings. I have also long been a fan of his characters. He sets up Miss Coldfield as an overly talkative and obnoxious character, and just when I began thinking “does this woman ever shut up?” He shows that, indeed, her interlocutors also have grown weary of her. "When I picked this book up I expected an arduous ordeal of terse and philosophical literature; however, I’ve found that this book has been quite approachable. The character work by Dostoevsky has made these philosophical dialogues feel natural and palatable; moreover, I’ve found the interactions between his characters quite engaging and humorous." — Mar 07, 2026 09:35AM
