I’ve held off reading this for three years 😭 From the editor/author drama (Which I still don’t fully understand because some people are specifically pointing fingers at the editor, and some specifically at the author??), to generally poor reviews regarding editing, representation, etc, I was honestly worried about having another “Powerless/Lightlark moment” as I call it - IE, a completely irredeemable book with nothing to enjoy or take away from it.
I’m wondering if now, I can maybe go into this book in a way that lets me take it with a grain of salt? I’m well aware of the book and author’s faults, but I’m aware of where it thrives as well. It’s a sapphic fantasy, what’s not to love about that!
I’m interested to see where I land with this one, since reviews seem…polarizing. Not taking 1-star reviews solely for the sake of the drama into consideration, some people here seem to adore this book and its story, while some are literally calling it the “worst book ever”, and passionately, too. We’ll see, I guess!
