“The Storm Kings of House Durrandon had once ruled the eastern half of Westeros, from their great strongholds, from Storm's End, through the Cape of Wrath to Crab Cove, but their dominion had been eroding for centuries. The Reach kings invaded their lands from the west, the Dornishmen attacked from the south, and Harren the Black and his ironborn had driven them north of the Trident and Blackwater Bay. The last Durrandon, King Argilac, had managed to halt this decline for a time, repelling a Dornish invasion while still a child and slaying King Garse VII Gardener of the Reach at the Battle of Summerfield. In the south and east, the Storm King's bannermen proved more loyal than King Harren's. Argilac the arrogant gathered a great host at Storm's End. The old warrior king roared that he had no intention of being cooked like Harren, like a pig with an apple stuffed in his own castle. The King, familiar with battle, would decide his own fate with his sword in hand. So Argilac the Arrogant set out from Storm's End one last time. The Storm King fell from his saddle as well. But Argilac fought on. When Orys Baratheon and his men descended the muddy hill, they found the old King facing half a dozen soldiers and an equal number of corpses at his feet. "Expand," Baratheon commanded. Their king dismounted to fight on equal terms, giving the Storm King one last chance to surrender. Instead, Argilac cursed him. And they fought, the long white-haired old warrior King against Aego's fierce, black-bearded hand. It is said that both men managed to wound each other, but in the end, he found what the Durrandons had hoped for, and he died, sword in hand, curse on his tongue.”

“When I went to the Hall of a Thousand Thrones and begged the Pure Ones to spare your life, I told them you were a little child," "But the great Egon emeros stood up and said, 'He is a foolish child, mad, reckless, and dangerous in his survival.' Your dragons were miracles when they were young. When they grew up, they became death and destruction. A flaming sword that stood over the world." Xaro wiped away his tears. "I should have killed you in Qarth.”
