The writing feels light and engaging, but there’s still enough substance to keep you invested in the characters and where they end up.

Duff is honestly such a standout. He comes across as confident and maybe a little too comfortable with keeping things casual at first, but it quickly becomes clear there’s more to him than that. He’s got this charm that makes his interactions really entertaining, especially when things don’t go according to his usual “plan.” What makes him compelling is how he starts to shift he’s forced to rethink what he actually wants, and watching that realization unfold feels both funny and surprisingly sincere.

Emmy is the perfect balance to Duff’s energy. She’s organized, thoughtful, and definitely someone who believes in having a plan (which makes the whole premise even better). But she’s not rigid there’s a warmth and openness to her that makes her easy to root for. I loved how she doesn’t just get swept up in Duff’s world; she holds her ground, questions him, and brings her own perspective into everything. She feels like someone who’s trying to do the right thing for herself, even when it’s messy.

Their dynamic is where the book really shines. There’s this great mix of banter, tension, and unexpected vulnerability that keeps things interesting. What starts off feeling like something convenient or temporary slowly turns into something a lot more real, and the transition feels natural. The chemistry is there from the beginning, but it’s the emotional layers that build over time that make their relationship so satisfying.

Overall, this is one of those romances that’s just genuinely enjoyable to read. It’s got humor, heart, and characters you actually want to spend time with. By the end, Duff and Emmy’s story feels earned and really comforting like watching two people figure things out in a way that isn’t perfect, but is exactly right for them. ...more "
