Egyptian Arabic for 'yes'. Aywa is an expression made when one finally understands something, like in conversations with friends. For instance: I did this and that ..plah plah … Oh! WHY ? Becuase plah plah plah …ect Aywaaaa ,got it or sometimes in conditions when your friend does sth , you laaater on get the reasons and understand his action , you laugh and say Aywaaa ! Also we say it when you are informed about sth good or bad for example : Do you know what Lina said about you ? No , what did she say? She said you are a bad person Aywa ! Or good conditions and news like : Do you know that Rima is engaged ? Aywa ! (Raising your eyebrow usually hhhh) So in general and in short it's when you are informed about sth surprising or when you understand thing . Turkish people use it as well (Eyva), also when somebody called you , you answer with” Aywa “ . Or sometimes in the phone if somebody you know called you you answer with (Aywa ?) , Most important use for it is to confirm agreement , you say it repeatedly (Aywa Aywa …Aywa) . So time for make irony , you use it for rejecting what is said , like somebody is lying and you know he is you just say ,”Aywa Aywa surrrre “ Maybe there are other uses but because I am a native I never thought about this kind of words meaning , but wish it was helpful
