“Certe mattine
al risveglio
c’è una bambina pugile
nello specchio,
i segni della lotta
sotto gli occhi
e agli angoli della bocca,
la ferocia della ferita
nello sguardo.
Ha lottato tutta la notte
con la notte,
un peso piuma
e un trasparente gigante
un macigno scagliato
verso l’alto
e un filo d’erba impassibile
che lo aspetta
a pugni alzati:
come sono soli gli adulti.”
― Chandra Livia Candiani, La bambina pugile ovvero la precisione dell'amore

“Eisenhower started his presidency on this same note, with a plea to avoid what he called the “burden of arms. . . . Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.”
― Douglas Brinkley, American Moonshot: John F. Kennedy and the Great Space Race

“Perhaps all we want from reading is to return to that age when we could hold a book and cry, to that time between childhood and adolescence, the sweetest era of our lives.”
― Mircea Cărtărescu, Solenoid

“I am human. I talk and I listen and I read.”
― Walter Tevis, Mockingbird
