I think this story was beautifully executed. It’s such a sweet, wholesome and moving story. I actually laughed, and cried while reading it. Especially when Harry gets his first birthday cake and presents from Hagrid (one of my favorite characters by the way), when he makes his first friends, Hermione and Ron, when he gets his first christmas presents, when he eats delicious food for the first time, when he is seen and heard for the first time, when he realizes someone loves him and cares about him for the first time -Hagrid, Dumbledore, Ron and Hermione, stories that they tell him about his parents, etc. All those “firsts” just shows the reader how neglected Harry was his entire life until he got to Hogwarts. It was so sad when he got his Hogwarts letters addressed to “the cupboard under the stairs” or “the smallest room” or “the floor”, it was so heartbreaking that such a sweet and special 11 year old had no friends or family.
This book oozes magic. I loved the world that JK Rowling created. The characters, the creatures, the school, even the signature candies wizards eat, the clothes they wear, the sports they play, the hobbies they have, the rules they live by; JK Rowling created this entire extraordinary world, the most original one I’ve read about. Mind you, I haven’t read a lot of books but still. This made me realize again, why I love artists so much. Why I love story tellers, writers, creatives, why they have such a special place in my heart.
I would recommend anyone, no matter your age, to read this, it is super enjoyable, and really so heartwarming.
I can understand why it is universally loved, anyone can relate to it, and at the same time, it’s a way to escape this world for a little while, just like Harry did when he left the Dursleys.
NEVILLE IS THE CUTEST THING EVER by the way. And also Hagrid, and Harry, and everyone.
READ THIS.
I just remembered one of my favorite parts, when for the first time Harry finds de Erised mirror, and looks at himself and he’s surrounded by his family. That was his deepest desire. Just to meet his parents. I cried. Poor kid. ...more "
