And they’re absolutely correct. But that, to me, is the beauty of this series. Briggs doesn’t make you suffer with the characters but at the same time you still feel for them. Someone gets sexually assaulted- doesn’t go into grim detail. Someone gets tortured- doesn’t go into grim detail. And so on. But at the same time we absolutely feel for the characters and what they go through. There is skill in that writing.
There are plenty of other books that do go into explicit, gory details, and that’s fine too. But there is something much easier and freer about not having to in this series.
I’ve loved all the Mercy Thompson books and fly through them but this one was by far my favorite so far. I felt like just so much was going on to keep me turning the pages. And as always, Adam’s devotion to his mate is top notch....more
