The year is 1895. This book is about a girl named Gemma, who is not like those ordinary girls in England. This book is pretty sad to begin with. Gemma and her mother gets separated from each other after they meet two strangers with black coat while they are on their way to celebrate Gemma's 16th birthday, Gemma explains to her mom about how much she wants to go to England and thats the wish she wants her mother to fulfil for her 16th birthday. But her mother reacts strongly in the mean time they bump into two stranger who would whisper to the mother. Gemma kind of think one of the stranger as attractive. The worried mother feared that something might happen to Gemma so she tells Gemma to head back home. While Gemma heads back home she gets lost and thats the turning point of her life that changes her life forever. Gemma always have strange visions. Once she had a vision of her mother committing suicide but ends up her mother has actually committed suicide. After her mother's death she is forced to leave India and attend Spence academy for young ladies (a british finishing school), there she learns that life exist beyond our world. Gemma faces hard time to get along with the girl in that academy but later she develops a strong bond with her roommate and two most popular girls at Spence. A man follows her from her hometown from India to England and her warns her about her visions. Her visions were too strong that were actually dangerous. Gemma's visions lead her into a cave near the Academy where she discovers a diary written 25 years ago by a girl. To her surprise she was exactly like Gemma. The gril attended Spence academy and had the same terrible vision. The diary she discovers was all about a group of ancient women called the order who possessed the ability to open the door between the real world and a magical realm.

Later, Gemma and her best buddies create their own order. During the night they agreed to meet at the cave to read from the girl's diary which ends up them discovering the secret about fire that once torched the east wing of Spence academy. Eventually Gemma manages to open the door between realms. She and her friends discover a world of magic, colour and beauty but they have no idea about the danger behind those magic which will hurt the entire world. ...more "
