Lee Child spins a good tale about this massive man who fights for right (the right in his mind...) and is fearless of any consequences or opponents. Reacher is brilliant in his analysis of situations and strategy, but lives the life of a drifter with no home base or relationships past the people he runs into or were connected to during his Army career many years before. No drivers license, no car, nothing but his wallet and whatever money he has left from his prior work. He does no laundry, wears clothes until they are too dirty then walks into a department or thrift store to replaces them directly on his body and dumps the used clothes into the trash.

As with all books in this series, I am on the edge of my seat and can't wait until I get to the end. So bad, I was googling for spoilers that would confirm if how I think the ending will be is accurate or not. Can't find any that confirms any details of the ending.... aughghgh! I am almost there, so I must be patient.

This book is especially enjoyable because Reacher has a love interest and it is nice to see him have a little affection from the opposite sex every once in a while.

My only complaint was related to the Audible book, when the narrator, Dick Hill, spoke as Hobart (a man who had been tortured as a prisoner of war in Africa and had his feet and hands chopped off). Mr. Hill spoke like he had a bunch of marbles in his mouth and I could not understand a word he was saying. Because the information was crucial to the story, I had to look that part up on-line and read it. Frustrating.

Reacher is a very large man, over 6'4" and +200lbs of bulky muscle. A fierce fighter who can whoop ass on up to 7 people at a time. Which is why I laugh hysterically every time I think that Tom Cruise got the plumb role of playing him in the only movie about Reacher. He looked like a 6 year old trying to play his father.

Anyways, if you like a lot of action and like to see the good win out in the end, check out this series (does not have to be read in order). ...more "
