After Katherine XIX broke up with him, he basically stopped functioning. Life is not the same without her. He tries to start fresh, as he and his best pal, Hassan, take a road trip. They end up stopping in a little town called Gutshot. While there, they stay with the grocery store cashier, Lindsey Lee Wells. The whole time there, Colin tries to create a theorem that can predict the compatibility of two people. As he tests it out, Colin comes to realize love cannot be created in a lab, but is found in time. Colin Singleton is your average teenage nerd. At a very young age, he found out he was a prodigy. He could understand thing other kids could not. While his other high school class mates excelled in sports and clubs, Colin's talents include math, foreign language, memory, and anagramming. When Colin finds love, he falls hard, and ends up getting hurt. This is why he just can't seem to get over Katherine XIX. He gets so lost in one person, he forgets about all the other people that do care for him. "If people could see inside me, the way I see myself, explore my memories- would anyone love me?" I give this book five out of five stars. I recommend this book to people who enjoy a good love story. This book is not for everyone, though. People who can't get into a book might get a bit annoyed with the Colin character. However, I really liked this book because it shows the personal conflict between a teenager and his feelings. Also, Green does a great job of explaining mixed emotions and various thoughts. One of my favorite things about this book is that it's written in third person. This allows the reader to not only hear the thoughts of Colin, but the other characters as well. It gave me a certain perspective that I have never felt before. "He could never see anything coming. He was nearsighted. The future lay before him, inevitable but invisible." If you want a story with love, mystery, and winding adventures, I would definitely give this book a read. ...more "
