To be honest, I haven't actually finished the book yet. I have barely done any reading at all lately in fact. I was not really surprised how good the book is so far, but i am genuinely astonished on how quickly i was suck into the book.

To be honest, I haven't actually finished the book yet. I have barely done any reading at all lately in fact. I was not really surprised how good the book is so far, but i am genuinely astonished on how quickly i was suck into the book.

While reading A Game of Thrones, I enjoyed how George R. R. Martin wrote the book from all different perspectives, giving the reader a more thorough idea on what is going on. But not only did he manage to perfectly link the characters to the story, he also managed to do a splendid job showing each characters characteristics through his writing. For example, Martin did a very good job show two diffrent personalities simply from a conversation between two sisters.

Sansa regarded her scrawny little sister in disbelief. "You can't look for rubies, the princess is expecting us. The queen invited us both."
"I don't care," Arya said. "The wheelhouse doesn't even have windows, you can't see a thing."
"What could you want to see?' Sansa said annoyed. She had been thrilled by the invitation, and her stupid sister was going to ruin everything, just as she'd feared. "It's all just fields and farms and holdfasts."
"It is not," Arya said stubbornly. "If you came with us sometimes, you'd see."
"I hate riding," Sansa said fervently. "All it does is get you soiled and dusty and sore."

In addition to Martin's good work on writing the characters, I also love the characters themselves. My favorite character in the book so far is either Bran Stark, or Tyrion Lannister. i thoroughly enjoyed reading part in either characters for multiple reasons.

For Bran, it is the simplicity of the mind of a boy only seven years of age that suck me in. I enjoyed reading how Bran slowly realizes what the world really is, who people really are. One of my favorite quotes so far comes from a conversation between Bran and his father:

Wrapped in his furs and leathers, mounted on his great warhorse, his Lord father loomed over him like a giant. "Robb says the man died bravely, but Jon says he was afraid."
"What do you think?" his father asked.
Bran thought about it. "Can a man still be brave when he's afraid?"
"That is the only time a man can be brave," His father told him.

For Tyrion Lannister, what drew me in was not the fact that he himself is a dwarf, but instead, the results of being one. Even though Tyrion was the Queen's own brother, he was a dwarf, the one treated differently because his body is different. Being a dwarf has taught Tyrion to read; not books, not manuscripts, but people. He has used the fact that he was different at a shield instead of a weakness. He uses what he have learned over the years to help Jon Snow, the bastard.

"Let me give you some counsel, bastard," Lannister said. "Never forget what you are, for surely the world will not. Make it your strength. Then it can never be your weakness. Armor yourself in it, and it will never be used to hurt you."

"Remember this, boy. All dwarfs may be bastards, yet not all bastards need be dwarfs."

This book has always been on my to-read list. but as I am currently reading this now, I would recommend this to mature readers that are more prepared for some topics than a thirteen year old girl like me. I would also Recommend this book to people who like kings and queens and nights and nobles and all that fantasy stuff since the book it self is in-fact called A Game of Thrones.
