Travelling is always a big role for the characters in the book, and this is definitely relatable. I really have this feeling of travelling straight away after reading this book. I like Bria and Rowan a lot, Starling too, of course, they are flawed, but travelling or backpacking fulfill them. I want to travel to South America but always intimidated by it, and I hope someday I will pluck up my courage to visit there or even find my other half,haha, who knows??haha!! 5 stars no doubt!

Oh wow, I think I re-read this on the right time. At this time of year, I wanted to travel, but have no guts. I should be making a life-changing decision, but I'm still lost. Seeing Rowan and Bria came to realize what they want is really inspiring. Their backpacking experience too, is Romantic! I love the Central America setting, the places that I've always wanted to go. I read this book before work, my goodness, I was so into it that I swear I could see the sea and feeling the sea breeze(mostly because of air-cond, I guess). It was the great escapism. I like the whole travelling aspect, but it's not just all about travelling. It's also about chasing your dreams, finding your sense of belonging and the parents' role. TBH, I was a bit underwhelmed by the beginning of this story, because of my literature background, I tend to judge its undermining 'first-world' arrogance and I was reminded by my Post-colonial class why 'third-world' countries are remained the third world until now. I had to read this critically because I was trained to, that's why I was not happy with the tone. The travelling atmosphere won me over I guess, and still loving it! It was a thrilling, fascinating and romantic ride with Bria, Rowan and Starling! Got to be 5 stars, no doubt!

I picked this up a few months ago, wasn't in the mood for it. Weeks later, I flew through it. There are flaws in it, like 'first world' gaze, which I detested. I felt Bria's voice to be whiny, and this time around I'm more interested in their travelling part. Their own philosophies of travelling fascinate me and I found myself pondering about it all the time. Travelling is a privilege, an escapism and a journey to let our true-self shine. Loving this book despite its lows. 4.75 stars! ...more "
