“She ran with a yearning for freedom I felt deep in my bones. Her graceful bounds, synchronized with my racing pulse, made me feel like I was flying. My body felt light, not weak or hungry like I’d been in Warrich. The powerful mare carried me faster than my worries as her brilliant black shimmered in the winter sun. She carried me faster than my burdens. She ran through fields of harvested wheat. For a little while, we left the heaviness behind.”

“but the term can also refer to being able to easily meet one’s basic necessities, having an abundance of joy and happiness, or having plenty of opportunities. You can use abundance magic to open doors, draw clients to your business, make more money, or lure a wealth of love, happiness, and friendship into your life. If we wanted to get super basic with it, abundance just means the absence of lack. You lack nothing, because you already have what you need to make your dreams a reality.”

“parts sea salt 1 part lavender 1 part chamomile 1 part rosemary 1 part cinnamon 1 part patchouli 20 to 30 drops of lavender or lemon essential oil (optional) Mixing bowl Before cleansing your space spiritually, start with the mundane. Pick up any clutter, wipe off counters, organize clutter. But don’t sweep—we’ll do that later. To make your floor salts, combine all of your ingredients into a mixing bowl. As you add them, tell them why they’re here. Salt, you’ll be absorbing and trapping the negative energy in my space. Lavender and chamomile, you’ll be adding peace and calming energy to replace it. Rosemary, you’ll be cleansing the negative energy. Cinnamon, you’ll be creating a barrier once all the negative energy is gone. Patchouli, you’ll be transforming the negative energy into positive energy.”

“Tom found the local tribes gentle and considerate. He hoped to bring a better life to them, and he would certainly be more tolerant than the Pilgrims who saw the tribes as devil-possessed, barely human creatures. Tom wanted to understand Indigenous culture. He learned the language and believed that some words had the same pronunciation and meaning as their Greek or Latin equivalents, which led him to suggest that the tribes were descendants of ancient Troy. He insisted he didn’t trade them guns and metal knives only for profit; he wanted to help them defend themselves from stronger tribes invading to take their lands. He listened to their gossip and their dreams. Most English thought it ironic that the tribes lived a life of what Europeans thought was poverty amid the abundance of the New World. But Tom, who could not resist imagining all the ways the abundance could be exploited, nevertheless understood that Indigenous people were not to be dismissed, as John Locke dismissed them, for “wasting” the natural resources of the New World. He understood their contentment living simple lives in harmony with nature. He even wondered if the tribal lifestyle made the European idea of wealth wrong. What good were piles of possessions that required constant protection? The tribes lived without want, in communities of mutual trust. Could that be the true definition of wealth?”

“Positive thoughts equal a positive life, right? But babe, most of us are mentally drained. How are you supposed to “stay positive” and think your dreams into reality when you literally don’t want to do anything anymore? How do you manifest when you’re having a crazy, shitty day?”
