“I do not think I have any uncharitable prejudice against the rattlesnake, still, I should not like to be one.”
― Herman Melville

“But what if someone from another faith won’t recognize yours? Or wants you dead for it?

“That is not faith. That is hate.” He sighed. “And if you ask me, God sits up there and cries when that happens.”
― Mitch Albom, Have a Little Faith: a True Story

“Because one thing God gave us- and I'm afraid it's at times a little too much- is freewill. Freedom to choose. I believe he gave us everything needed to build a beautiful world, if we choose wisely.”
― Mitch Albom, Have a Little Faith: a True Story

“It's the same thing with faith, by the way." We don't want to get stuck having to go to services all the time, or having to follow all the rules. We don't want to commit to God. We'll take Him when we need Him, or when things are going good. But real commitment? That requires staying power‎-‎-‎-in faith and in marriage."
And if you don't commit? I asked.
"Your choice. But you miss what's on the other side."
What's on the other side?
"Ah." He smiled, "A happiness you cannot find alone.”
― Mitch Albom, Have a Little Faith: a True Story
