"I keep starting and stopping this audiobook at times. The narrator (also the author) is good. I'm not sure why I can't finish it!? It is well written, chalk full of interesting history. It might be that I need lighter listening for audiobooks...as I usually listen to audiobooks when I'm either very fatigued or it's late at night. This book is a little bit like a uni lecture, IMHO." "I listen to audio books to go to sleep with. It usually works pretty well for me. However, while the narrator is good - he does shout into the mic to add feeling and emphasis to the dialogue and what's happening. Probably not the greatest audio book as a bed time story. Shall see if I choose to continue." Aug 21, 2021 11:04AM

Paulo Coelho
“This miracle is in the small things of daily life; we must live in the understanding that at every moment there is a way out of each problem, the way of finding that which is missing, the right clue to the decision which must be taken in order to change our entire future.”
Paulo Coelho, Warrior of the Light

Oscar Wilde
“We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.”
Oscar Wilde, Lady Windermere's Fan

Rupi Kaur
“the middle place is strange
the part between them and the next
is an awakening from how you saw to
how you will see
this is where their charm wears off
where they are no longer
the god you made them out to be
when the pedestal you carved out of your
bone and teeth no longer serves them
they are unmasked and made mortal again
- the middle place”
Rupi Kaur, The Sun and Her Flowers

Jojo Moyes
“I will never, ever regret the things I've done. Because most days, all you have are places in your memory that you can go to.”
Jojo Moyes, Me Before You

Octavia E. Butler
“The problem, of course, with throwing people away is that they don't go away. They stay in the society that turned its back on them. And whether that society likes it or not, they find all sorts of things to do.”
Octavia E. Butler
