That is not how we manage healing, to just trust in a higher power to resolve our suffering or thank them for the lesson or whatever. But the chapters and much of the exercises are valid and this entire curriculum of 16 or so chapters speaks to a huge gap in the market for helping us to recover from loss.

The book was free with the grief works counseling sessions held weekly but for which I only was able to attend once. In looking for grief support here in Northern VA, I could not find it, so this was literally the only option offering something within a time frame that met my needs. As group members, we also get daily emailed support with encouragement and validation, but also with scripture to tie into Christianity. I/E - "Your Emotions - Day 58
Your emotions can be intense, draining, and hard to hold back; they are tangled up inside of you and run deep. Everyone goes through some unexpected emotions, and it helps for you to identify and sort out the emotions that apply to you. This is part of the healing process.

Which emotions describe what you are feeling? denial, rage, loneliness rejection, confusion, helplessness guilt, anxiety, disappointment anger, sadness, resentment jealousy, inadequacy, vindictiveness fear, envy, depression pain, dread, bitterness loss, anguish, dismay sorrow, betrayal, abandonment apathy, distrust, lack of control. Jesus can identify with your sorrows. "

Grief Share would not have been the ideal avenue for me to explore grief, but this program and workbook has helped more than I believed it could. Grief is this big scary thing we don't speak of it. I am grateful for having gone and the supports to date, so much so, having a masters degree in school counseling and having practiced that for 29 years now, I could see myself providing grief and loss counseling professionally. ...more "
