re-reading this two years after my initial first read was without a doubt a complete new experience. the almost childlike giddy wonder that washed over me when i read it for the first time was overtaken by a feeling you only get when meeting up with an old friend you haven’t seen in years. it was like listening to a story you’ve heard many times before, one you’re very fond of.
now, going into this knowing what i already know i can only say a few things. yes these are all very obvious things blah blah blah I don’t care.

#1: (logan roy voice) they are not serious people. they are stupid and inconsiderate of every action they take. they blindly followed henry, who by the way was very out of touch with reality and when one of them even tried to call him out or go against his say… well it quite literally ended in a death.
#2: richard is so pathetic it’s the full body cringe that’s hard to read type of pathetic. the only explanation that makes sense for every action he took in this was that he was unconditionally and devoutly in love with henry. (they all were tbh)
#3: i find it almost comical how after bunny’s death, their lives seemed to go downhill. it’s funny that they did all of this, went to the extremes to be spared from a life sentence just to end up where they did, miserable.
#4: bunny is by no means a good person, they were all to some degree awful people. but something i picked up a lot on this re-read is just how good bunny is at reading people, sure his way of voicing these notices and his remarks are not great but i found it all funny. he really read them all on sight, nobody was spared! i believe they really underestimated bunny, they saw him below him tried to separate themselves by making him inferior and i think that was their demise. bunny even in death haunted them.

anyway 10/10. i hate them, i love them. i can’t stand them, i need to freak out with them. i laugh (i cry) at how miserable they ended up. oh i can’t wait for my next re-read.
