Gurez has, apart from its natural charms, an element that doesn’t exist in any other part of Kashmir—distance, both in time and space, from the outside world.
And by extension Kashmir too has always been a dreamscape of sorts for me, far removed from the rest of India in the serenity of its scenery and its pace of time that somehow feels more rooted to the present.
