However, after making it to the mainland, the gang is met with a desolated and decimated Portland, Maine. After quickly finding a survivor of the horrifying attack, they learn a few secrets. Underground is safe, And don't trust anyone. They then go to Boston and find a gang of "cowboys" as Tucker puts them. These survivors have all banded together and mad a small bunker. Life goes good, great actually, until Tucker sees an unsettling sight. About 10-20 people getting on a bus early in the morning, and not coming back. At first he blows it off thinking 'they are probably just leaving'. He continues to get up early and watch as each day people just leave. But his bunk mate, a die-hard in it for the long run, disappears. The next day, he sees his bunk mate, Jim, lining up to get on the bus. But when Jim struggles as he is boarding, Tucker knows he had to have been forced. A quick investigation throws them into a chase to find whats really up in this camp and why two branches of the military were having an all out war.
I would recommend this book because it is a page-turner with lots of action, suspense and a well developed character and plot.
Me: So, Tucker, what is it like, worrying if you will live another day? Tucker: I never really worry about it. I mean, I do when we are directly under attack, but I guess we have it good at the camp. There is a lot of food! Me: Thank you for clarifying. Is there a lot of pressure, with everyone looking up to you like that? And what about trust in your group? Tucker: It can get stressful, especially when we had to decide whether or not to go to Nevada. I can't stand it when I have to make the big decisions but Kent makes all the little ones. He just wants his way when he can be the hero. As for trust, we gotta work on that. Kent tries to always protect Olivia, but then flirts with Tori. I just don't know what his game is....more
