In part, Educated reads like magical surrealism growing up in a rural radical Mormon family, with no sense of community and other chapters read as coming of age. It is a refreshing and very timely true tale that reminds the reader the true purpose and value of formal education from the people who value it most: The ones who are most unlikely to receive it.
