“Si, au sein d'un même pays, vous divisez les races en deux camps, les gens de chaque camp oublieront très vite que les gens de l'autre camp sont des êtres humains comme eux, qu'ils vivent et rient comme eux, qu'ils connaissent la joie et la souffrance comme eux, la fierté et l'humiliation comme eux. Chaque camp se méfiera peu à peu de l'autre et chacun finira par avoir peur de l'autre, ce qui est le point de départ du racisme.”
Brink Andre

Paul Auster
“Normal. What did normal mean, Ferguson asked himself , and why wasn't it normal for him to feel the way he did about wanting to kiss and make love to other boys, the sex of one-sex was just as normal and natural as the sex of two-sex sex, maybe even more normal and more natural because a cock was something boys understood better than girls, and therefore it was easier to know what the other person wanted without having to guess, without having to play the courtship and seduction games that could make the sex of two-sex sex confounding, and why did a person have to choose between one or the other, why block out one-half of the humanity in the name of normal or natural when the truth was that everyone was Both, and people and society and the laws and religions of people in different societies were just too afraid to admit it.”
Paul Auster, 4 3 2 1

Jeff Buckley
“There's no time for hatred, only questions. Where is love? Where is happiness? What is life? Where is peace?”
Jeff Buckley

Walter Benjamin
“Every line we succeed in publishing today - no matter how uncertain the future to which we entrust it - is a victory wrenched from the powers of darkness.”
Walter Benjamin

Nicholas D. Kristof
“When anesthesia was developed, it was for many decades routinely withheld from women giving birth, since women were "supposed" to suffer. One of the few societies to take a contrary view was the Huichol tribe in Mexico. The Huichol believed that the pain of childbirth should be shared, so the mother would hold on to a string tied to her husband's testicles. With each painful contraction, she would give the string a yank so that the man could share the burden. Surely if such a mechanism were more widespread, injuries in childbirth would garner more attention.”
Nicholas D. Kristof, Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide
