I mean, Maggie Nelson doesn't use footnotes or anything that is referentially sound in terms of a formal academic manuscript, but she is verbose, and her verbosity is esoteric. I would proceed with caution if you are not a fan of academic verse and references to psychology, but I'm a massive fan of both, so I'm enjoying it!
