My Life as Emperor

My Life as Emperor is about a 14 year old boy named Sue Tong that lives a sorrowful life. When his father first dies it is a big tragedy for everyone because he was the Xie Empire for thirty years. Since he died he had to pass it on to one of his sons. He decided to pass it on to Sue Tong. When Sue Tong first became Empire he didn’t really want to and so didn’t his stepmother. His stepmother wanted one of her sons to be Empire, but she couldn’t do anything about it because the father already picked. When years passed by Sue Tong had so much power he started drinking.
My favorite character was Sue Tong because even though his life turned out that way he still became someone and he was the hero in the book. When he started drinking that was his decision even though it wasn’t a good one. When his father passed away he felt alone because his father was the ruler and empire but now that he died he turned out to be the empire. When he didn’t want to be empire I was really surprised because I thought it would be a good thing for him to follow his father’s footsteps.
I think the author wanted me to think about Sue Tong’s life and why he didn’t want to become Empire. Also the author wanted me to think about if I was him would I start harming myself by drinking just because I had so much power, or would I just be myself and be proud of who I am. The author even thought me a lesson because now I will know not to go crazy over every little thing that I like when I grow up.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is my age because this book talks about responsibilities in life and chances. I would also recommend this book to my friend because I think she would like to read this book and because she is one of those people that likes reading books and that passes something on like it is a tradition.

In a scale of 1-10 I would rate this book a 10 out of 10. This book had a sad ending but was still very interesting. ...more "
