I came across this book while I was watching Disney Channel and saw an advertisement for the book. The advertisement looked for the book looked very intriguing and it the topic was something I was interested in reading. The Isle of the Lost is about the notorious Disney villains and their kids as they are banished to live on the isle for being evil. There are many characters in the book from Captain Hook to Maleficent. Things start to turn when Carlos, Cruela Di Vil`s son, builds a contraption that could possibly break a hole in the force field surrounding the isle preventing their escape. But then Mal (Daughter of Maleficent), Jay (Son of Jafar), Evie (Daughter of Evil Queen), and Carlos find out about the Dragon`s eye which could get them and everyone else of the isle. They then set off on an adventure through the Forbidden Fortress to find the hidden Dragon`s eye. I found the story line in the book easy to follow and captivating. The book was hard to put down once I started it. I also liked the style of the book and how the story flowed. The author put many jokes in the book to make it funny, which I really appreciated. Since Disney`s advertisements said that the book is great, I had some rather high expectations reading the book that were achieved. The major themes of this book is friendship and determination. Mal, Jay, Evie, and Carlos must all stick together and become friends even though they despise each other and overcome their differences to find the Dragon`s eye. Also determination is another theme, because all of them are determined to find the Dragon`s eye and escape off of the Isle of the Lost. The book was taken by the public very well because they are coming out with a sequel movie called Descendants. Lastly, I would recommend this book to ages ten and up because it has some challenging vocabulary words that younger children might have difficulty understanding. I think it is ideal for anyone who is interested in Disney, since it is based off of Disney villains and also includes some Disney heroes too. ...more "
