I loved loved the main characters especially. I am very much crushing on even more fictional men now. And I completely fell in love with the story once things finally got moving quicker and we kind of left behind the human world more. It actually started moving surprisingly quickly at some point. In other book series I feel like it would‘ve taken us at least another book to get to the point of what happens at the end of this one. So can‘t wait to see where else this series is going to take us!

What I didn‘t like is that a lot of things didn‘t make full sense to me. Like why is this or that character important enough to cause all of those things? And why are a lot of things falling so easily into place? And just some general worldbuilding background I didn‘t quite get. I still understood enough for it all to tie together at the end and make sense in the wider picture somehow, but I worry that the things I didn‘t understand will lead to more issues down the line in understanding the series as a whole. But we‘ll see about that. There‘s hope! Oh and I hated those anxiety ridden we-meet-yet-another-new-fearie scenes because they actually make me super anxious even when I pre-read the ending of the chapter. Urgh.

Bit confused as to why there was no big plot twist at the end as there often is, because as much as I hate those, I also love them because I then immediately want to splunge into the next book in the series. But oh well, can‘t wait to read the next one nevertheless haha.

One last point: If I ever even slightly consider writing in my own fantasy books about a pit with „deadly“ and „UNSURVIVABLE“ tasks in that „NO ONE“ has ever come back alive from before but my main character surprisingly ends up being the chosen one to complete them alive please - you hereby have my permission to punch me in the face. I have definitely not read many many fantasy books, but somehow the ones I do read ALWAYS have one of those „unsurvivable“ pits. WHY. What‘s the point? Why does everyone keep doing this?? We all know they always end up alive at the end of them (except maybe for the odd side character for dramatic effects)??

Yes I had to use this review to get some anger out haha but I swear it‘s still a great book in my opinion haha! ...more "
