I distinctly remember the instructor at my birthing class tell us to take a look around, because statistically one-third of us sitting there would end up having a c-section. And yet, the instruction on c-section was still so minimal in this class. I also thought to myself "yeah, but it won't be me." And I had good reason to think this. Despite that staggering statistic, of all the women who were in my life at that time, not one of my closest friends or family had had one. So why should I think I would?
