I absolutely adored this book. It had me laughing, smiling, crying and I just fell in love with everything about it. This is a book I would never have picked up, not something I normally read but was kindly gifted in a book box by @basicallybookboxes and I’m so grateful for finding one of my new favourite books 💙

The way that Page describes the Lido as an escape for everyone. It doesn’t matter who you are or what you do, the lido can take those problems away for an hour or so. It becomes a sense of home for some people, a break, friendship… Page’s writing gripped me from the beginning and is so beautifully done not forgetting any small detail. A fantastic light-hearted easy read with a deeper meaning. Page touches on loneliness and mental health in a way that’s so relatable and touching. She touches on how no one know what’s people are going through on the inside and it’s so important.

I fell in love with the two main characters Rosy and Kate from the beginning. I loved their connections to the lido and the friendship they created together. The character development for both characters is so incredibly cleverly written. ‘The darkness, although still there in the background, retreats’, Page turns Kate’s mental health into a beast called ‘The Panic’ and is so clever with what terms she uses to describe how Kate feels.

Overall this book is now one of my favourite books. It was fantastic from start to finish. Cute easy reading, with hidden depth, short chapters and large font. George and Rosemary’s love story was incredible and the flashbacks to them warmed my heart! The setting of Brixton was perfect and I felt like I could imagine being there. I loved Page’s writing and I’ll defo be picking up her other books!!! I urge you all to get this and have a read! 💙😁💦 ...more "
