was in wayyyy more emotional turmoil from acomaf than this book, The War Book. 500 pages that were a jolly old time and then 150 pages of SJM pulling every Deus Ex Machina she could think of. I will not lie 3 stars but I had so much fun. what a romp.

I will not lie I started laughing hysterically at how she bundled up those plot threads like a kitten choking on string.

jurian’s actually a good guy? yeah sure why not. lucian just completely absent for like 300 pages? the child of divorce is managing don’t worry. oh the Ouroboros, the spooky magic mirror that everyone knows about and has driven people to madness for a myriad? don’t worry!! over the course of one whole page feyre looks in it and eat pray loves that shit into inner-acceptance. so the bone carver is our bestie now, bc he just needed to make sure feyre could vibe (even though he can see into the future bc he literally appears as her future child). ohhh but rhys also loves a good ol’ deus ex so Stryga is there somehow. with a new hat! how nice. and then Feyre’s DAD shows up on the fucking nina the pinta and the santa maria with Lucien, who apparently didn’t actually do all that much besides be like a GPS, and the angel people I just do NOT care about, who are also fighting jurian, but we don’t get to see that, no mind your own business that’s too nosy. hand to GOD Drakon literally says at one point “oh yeah Lucian’s got this really convoluted story to tell you” WE HAVE 70 PAGES LEFT DRAKON!!!! WE DO NOT HAVE TIME!!!!! And then Rhys and Amren are dead for like 2 pages and I would’ve been sadder if I believed for one second it was permanent. the only death in this Evil Awful Terrible War is one mortal dad who was already kind of old. sad.

and if you read this book you are almost certainly thinking “man I don’t really remember most of that, besides the dad thing, because that was funny.” of course you don’t remember. why would you. there’s no sex scenes in those 150 pages. and tamlin doesn’t even die!

I’ve already forgotten what happened in the first 500 pages. I love this book. ...more "
