I especially enjoyed the perspective of Elio's father Samuel and his journey on finding love that he thought he would never have. Even though it did take up more than 50% of the novel, I don't believe it was too long...the book was just too short.

Considering Elio and Olver spent 20 years wondering what might have been, so have the readers been able to imagine as well.
