Heidi Elmore said: " 9/26/07 - i started reading this book a couple of weeks ago and i am finding i have to read it in small chunks. parts of it intrigue me, in the way all things religious do, while parts of it insense me to the point i can't pick it up again for days a 9/26/07 - i started reading this book a couple of weeks ago and i am finding i have to read it in small chunks. parts of it intrigue me, in the way all things religious do, while parts of it insense me to the point i can't pick it up again for days and days at a time. for instance: the insinuation that for some reason i would not personally want to accept that jesus was divine (as in an actual divine being, not a human divine being) because of a sinful lifestyle - which, by and large, i do not live what would be considered a "sinful lifestyle"; the almost "bottled water culture" type manufacturing of need ie. someone tells you there is something missing in your life and here's what you need to fill it with so you go along with it just like everyone thinks bottled water is so much better for them when really it just pollutes the planet with plastics and they do not get to drink the natural nutrients or beneficial additives that are in well or city water; and, the fact that throughout the book (although i will admit i am only partially through chapter 2) the author uses well-documented psychological triggers to open the mind of the reader to suggestion... all of this is very disturbing to me. also, he seems to only be interviewing people who already believe that jesus is/was divine. he doesn't seem to be hitting the multifacited discussion that is the divinity of christ. all of this, in my humble opinion, hints that the author is not attempting to find proof of the divinity of Jesus at all as much as he is trying to convert the reader and, while i am trying to read this objectively, i can't help noticing all of these things that, for me, discredit the author as i feel that the truth (in all things) should not have to be so black and white and that, as with most things, the truth lies somewhere in between...

(any of my scouting friends who are on here - disregard this. lol. :) actually, i was asked to read and analyze this book by another scouter and i agreed... which was probably not the right thing to do, but i found the subject matter interesting).
