I started reading this book back in the beginning of October. I was supposed to buddy read it with Clo @ Cuppa Clo but she was more in the mood of reading Lux (which I totally support because Lux is such a good series) and then I wasn't that 3.5 stars

I started reading this book back in the beginning of October. I was supposed to buddy read it with Clo @ Cuppa Clo but she was more in the mood of reading Lux (which I totally support because Lux is such a good series) and then I wasn't that motivated. I just slowly read chapters here and there until finally finished the book last weekend.

“No one is ever the villain of their own story.”

Lady Midnight is a story Emma Carstairs and the people in the Los Angeles institute finding out about the murders of human and faeries, including Emma's parents five years ago. She always knew they weren't killed by Sebastian but the Clave never believed her.

"And boys do what pretty girls want. Great-Aunt Marjorie said so. She said if I wasn't such a butterball, I'd be a pretty girl and boys would do what I wanted."

Julian is such a sweetie and bites his nails when he's restless or upset. He hasn't really lived since he lost the only parent he had left and one of his siblings was kidnapped my faeries and another is trapped in an island. He became his younger siblings parent and did everything for them. Julian has so many siblings that I had to write them down to keep up with everyone. Besides Mark and Helen there's Tavvy (7- years old and often has nightmares, Dru (13 years old and crazy about scary movies) and 15 years old twins Tiberius aka Ty (loves Sherlock Holmes books and animals) and Livvy (very protective of Ty).

Julian is parabatai with Emma and he thinks she's the bravest person he knows and let's be honest Emma is the most badass main female character from all Cassandra Clare books so far. I don't always get her actions but she just wants to keep people close to her safe.

The biggest reason why I hadn't read Lady Midnight yet despite loving all the other books in the Shadowhunters world was knowing about friend to lovers relationship between Emma and Julian. I might not love it as much as everyone else but I did love how Julia and Emma wanted to protect each other 24/7.

I was much more interested in Mark's love triangle. It's weird liking Mark with two different people but I especially like Kieran but that might be because Mark didn't really become more than friends with Christina. The prince of fairyland was his first kiss and Kieran just doesn't want to loose Mark.

I'm so glad we got to see some characters from other books, like Tessa, Jem, Jace and Clary. I'm going to continue this series at some point even if I'm not compelled to get the second book right away and hopefully we'll see more of them and even this new character Kit. ...more "
