“Began life in a tough situation”(Hill8) LeBron James was born in December 30, 1984. James mom, Gloria James, was 16 years old when James got born. Gloria James lived with her new baby, her mother, and her 2 younger brothers in a poor neighborhood in Akron, Ohio. This neighborhood had gangs and drug violence. James became interested in basketball at a younger age. James entered his freshman year in high school at Saint Vincent Saint Mary in 1999 at 6 feet 4 inches and 170 pounds. In 2003 NBA was held on June 26 and the Cleveland Cavaliers drafted LeBron James. LeBron took the court for his first professional basketball game with the Cleveland Cavaliers, LeBron was already a multimillionaire. In 2004 LeBron became the youngest player for the USA Men’s National Basketball Team since 1968. By now LeBron James is being compared to some other biggest players in basketball such as Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal, and Dwyane Wade. This is how LeBron James became a good basketball player.

LeBron James: King of Shots is a wonderful nonfiction book with photographs and a good title. I think it’s a very good title because this title shows LeBron James is a good basketball player by calling him a king in the title. I also really like the photography 10000 and counting because he is dunking. Dunking is very difficult but LeBron James is very good at it. I know this book in nonfiction because LeBron James is a real person and that he is alive. It also tells you real events that happened and LeBron’s life.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone that likes basketball. People would learn more about their favorite basketball player. Another reason why I recommend this book because it tells you about his life, where he was burn, which high school he went to, and his professional career in basketball. This book in interesting because even though I know this basketball player, I really didn’t know his life and what happened to his family. I think all ages would like to read this book. I would highly recommend this book to people that like basketball. ...more "

This amazing book “Nightjohn” is a novel that was written by Gary Paulsen. This amazing story takes place in the Southern part of America during the time of slavery. The main character is Sarny who is a twelve years old African American slave. Sarny was born all backwards and she has a stuck tongue, so people thinks she is dumb. In the story the main conflict is man verses man because a mean man called Clell Waller who is the mean guy in the book. Clell Waller doesn’t allowed slaves to now anything about god and not allowed them to pray and aren’t allowed to understand how to read or write. The action in the story is that Sarny really wanted to learn how to read but no matter what Sarny wanted to read because she seen people reading in Clel Waller’s house. The resolution in the story in Sarny began how to learn how to read and she also learns her alphabets. Thus, this amazing story was well developed throughout the author’s uses of character.

The first element of fiction that the author used to develop is character. I chose character because Sarny stats out by not knowing how to read and finishes by reading. “ I isn’t there no amount of thinking on it will make it come into my brain.” (Paulsen19) This quote tells us that she doesn’t know how to read. “ Tonight we just do A.W hat does it mean? It means A just like I said. It’s the first letter in the alphabet.”(Paulsen38) This quote tells us that she started learning how to read. Therefore, character made it a super novel because Sarny showed courage and bravery.

I would highly recommend this amazing and wonder full book to all middle schoolers who like to read about slavery in America, and both teachers Mrs. Mitchem and Mr. Holt that teaches history. My first reason is that this book tacks about happened along time ago in America. Another reason why I chose this book is because it focuses on education and kids. To conclude the novel Nightjohn is a very good book and I would recommend this book to all middle schoolers and both history teachers. ...more "
