Apollo, who was changed to a Morgan and thrown into the dumpsters in NYC, has changed in multiple ways over the book. Riordan decided to make elements appear from today like Snapchat, Facebook, and a few different terms from today, but it really seemed out of place with his writing style. I understand that he wants to connect with younger readers, it it was very hard to read. I like how later in the novel, he fell back into his normal writing style.

He incorporated different dynamic elements of people that proved to be a susessful, Apollo who is a mortal god, Meg who is unknown and mysterious, afraid campers especially those who are Apollo's children, and outsiders from Triumvirate Holdings. I enjoyed the novel because it provided a use for the next part of Apollo's trials. The title says it all, the Hidden Oracle. They were looking for the oracle because no one knew the fate of the gods or anything. During the novel it was a mystery for Apollo because he was expelled from Olympus, although I think that Olympus is going haywire and he was sent as a mortal to not be affected by this. He needs to go through trials to come back to Olympus because he lost control of Delphi. He suceeds in finding his first trial, the hidden oracle of Dodana which is a grove of trees planted by a titan named Rhea. Going though multiple battles of strength, emotional past references, and against the Beast himself, Apollo found the grove and intended to fix it. He and Meg got the wind chimes from Rhea. She wants the gods to succeed so she provided these to help control the trees prophecies.

I don't want to spoil the rest, although it was interesting to see all of the events that happened next. I enjoyed reading this book and I rated it 4 stars because Riordan was trying way to hard in the beginning to impress his new audiences. ...more "
