"Liking the actual manga, but I could do without all the footnotes that have nothing to do with the story. Masamune seems to be taking a great story and using it as a soapbox for spouting random political beliefs by just telling the reader exactly what he thinks about certain issues in the footnotes, and then using questionable examples to support his beliefs. I’m all for conveying a message, but this is just lazy." Jun 18, 2025 04:34AM

Hunter S. Thompson
“With a bit of luck, his life was ruined forever. Always thinking that just behind some narrow door in all of his favorite bars, men in red woolen shirts are getting incredible kicks from things he’ll never know.”
Hunter S. Thompson, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: A Savage Journey to the Heart of the American Dream

Fyodor Dostoevsky
“Of the eternal questions, nothing else: is there a God, is there immortality? And those who do not believe in God will talk of socialism or anarchy, of the transformation of all humanity on a new pattern, which all comes to the same thing, they're the same questions turned inside out.”
Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov

Shūsaku Endō
“Sin, he reflected, is not what it is usually thought to be; it is not to steal and tell lies. Sin is for one man to walk brutally over the life of another and to be quite oblivious of the wounds he has left behind.”
Shusaku Endo, Silence

Alan Moore
“So when you find yourself locked onto an unpleasant train of thought, heading for the places in your past where the screaming is unbearable, remember there's always madness. Madness is the emergency exit.”
Alan Moore, Batman: The Killing Joke

Neil Gaiman
“Grown-ups don't look like grown-ups on the inside either. Outside, they're big and thoughtless and they always know what they're doing. Inside, they look just like they always have. Like they did when they were your age. Truth is, there aren't any grown-ups. Not one, in the whole wide world.”
Neil Gaiman, The Ocean at the End of the Lane
