you will desire to control your husband,        but he will rule over you.*”
Jay Wing
Genesis 3:16 • Thus began the struggle that continues to this day between a man and his wife. Control is the key, as well as submission to the order God established from the beginning. From my experience, divorce is rooted in this scripture, “...you will desire to control your husband, but he will rule over you.” Just as Adam relinquished control of obeying God’s directive, so did I, with both of my marriages. I did not rule, nor was I the head of either of the households God entrusted to me. I’ve been paying the price of my unwillingness to obey God’s order with solitude ever since. Even today, as I wait for the opportunity to see Erika and Jonathan at noon at South Mission Beach, my children are being controlled by their mother. I lost/gave up control three decades ago, succumbing to the false narrative that ran through my mind, that I was powerless against Megan’s assertiveness.

“If you drop a book into the toilet, you can fish it out, dry it off and read that book. But if you drop your Kindle in the toilet, you’re pretty well done.”

Jim Jarmusch
“Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery - celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: “It’s not where you take things from - it’s where you take them to."
