“Prizes were announced for any superhero that could take down the Evil, and more people showed up with weapons, bombs, fumes, and other inventions to kill the giant bugs and clean the land, the air and the waters. But none succeeded. All they succeeded was to harm the planet even more, make the Evil Snake, the Evil Scientist and his superbugs become more Evil. Prizes were getting bigger and bigger with no one to collect them, just as the bugs were getting bigger and more numerous, sweets were everywhere and people were eating them, getting sicker and complaining about tooth and tummy aches. The future looked grim.”

“It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.”

“Bam!” the door screams in fear as the moving bed and the doctors run through. Blinding white lights stab my eyes mercilessly. I try to open my mouth. I scream, “Let me out! What’s going on? Why am I here?” but no one is listening. They don’t even hear me cry. I am kicking and yelling and pushing, but nothing’s happening. People stare at me, tears glistening on their faces. My eyes blink rapidly as I search the room for comfort. I stare at the faces I know. “Mother! Father! What’s happening? Why? Where am I?” “Help me! I am scared! I need to be rescued…from what?” I drift into an abyss that chains me forever. I am a rock. I”

“This angered him so badly, that he turned against everything he cared about: learning, foster parents, and hopes to make it into college; he dropped out of school. He ran away from the foster family that was caring for him at the time and eventually found Adrian, and then we somehow found each other and we happily formed our little group of outcasts. James is 18; he is smarter than Nathan, but not as technologically inclined as him. James looks out for me. He keeps accounts in order, pays receipts, and calculates risks-benefits for different jobs we decide to take. He’s like the vice-president of our “little robbers’ band”, while Adrian is the president. James and Adrian argue quite often about all sorts of things - James is very critical of Adrian and Adrian can’t stand to be contradicted;”

“Adrian never recovered after the loss of his dear friend. I am not sure if he has any family, he never talks about parents, brothers or sisters; it looks as if his dead friend was the only guy that ever cared for him. Eventually Adrian found us, a bunch of misfits, lonely teens, each with our sad lives, and we all hung out together, because Adrian kept us together, gave us a purpose and it made us feel like we’re a family. I’m the “baby” of the group, the little guy that always has to be protected; they tutor me, feed me, and rarely let me go on “missions”, obviously. When I get sick I have to be taken care; when I get injured, they have to fix me. I feel like I have five big brothers, and, even though I miss a mother and a father, I am not alone in this world.”
