Book cover for Complete Jewish Bible: An English Version of the Tanakh (Old Testament) and B'rit Hadashah (New Testament)
This was a night when ADONAI kept vigil to bring them out of the land of Egypt, and this same night continues to be a night when ADONAI keeps vigil for all the people of Isra’el through all their generations.
Crystal
Yahveh keeps a vigil for His people when He delivers them from bondage (including the bondage of sin). This must be why people have the amazing experiences they do when they truly repent and turn to Him. It just makes me say, "Wow!" and I fall in love all over again with my Creator who saves and delivers me.

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
“And in despair I bowed my head;
"There is no peace on earth," I said;
"For hate is strong,
And mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!"

Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
"God is not dead, nor doth he sleep!
The Wrong shall fail,
the Right prevail,
With peace on earth, good-will to men!”
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Neil Gaiman
“Yes. We both have a bad feeling. Tonight we shall take our bad feelings and share them, and face them. We shall mourn. We shall drain the bitter dregs of mortality. Pain shared, my brother, is pain not doubled, but halved. No man is an island.”
Neil Gaiman, Anansi Boys

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
“I heard the bells on Christmas Day
Their old, familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet
The words repeat
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!”
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

G.K. Chesterton
“Poets have been mysteriously silent on the subject of cheese.”
G.K. Chesterton, Alarms and Discursions

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
“For after all, the best thing one can do when it is raining is let it rain.”
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
