"David narrates childhood stories with his classic sarcastic, self-deprecating, and biting wit that he is beloved for. It’s a laugh-out-loud, relaxing, and enjoyable read. His writing takes on a surprising depth in which he is unafraid to lay out his mistakes of the past and condemn them as the man he has become, all while remaining so dang lovable. Equal parts funny and touching." Aug 09, 2024 06:47PM

"I read the both prefaces and the first two chapters. I plan to go back and read the introduction later. So far I am really enjoying the novel. Charlotte’s prose is beautiful yet practical. I’m finding this to be an easier read so far than Wuthering Heights, written by sister Emily Brontë. Perhaps because the narrative and linguistic style is esoteric to a very particular place and time. Jane Eyre is more modern." Aug 09, 2024 05:58PM
